Enhance Your Child’s Focus Strength & Attention Ability
What Is Focus?
Focus is a word that parents use predominantly to scold their children—“Study with focus, or else you will fail.” Focus is all about devoting one’s complete attention to a single subject. The skill of minimising the number of distractions also counts in the definition of Focus.
For children, it is one of the most crucial skills that should be developed at an early age. The habits of children are very tough to change and if they are not taught to focus well then it may cause harm to them in the future.
MBS International School is presenting a little guidebook here on the same matter. So let’s see what as a parent you should know and also what you can do.
How To Know If Your Child Has Less Focus Strength?
There are many symptoms that indicate your child is having trouble focusing. Let’s examine each sign individually.
1). Taking Too Long To Learn Something: Is your child taking more time than usual to learn chapters, pages, tables, or essays? Then it may indicate that your child is not able to give his/her complete focus. They may be wondering different things in their head. Well, it may also mean that your child is floating in its world of creativity but it should be channelised well.
2). Trouble Making Eye Contact: If your child is not making regular eye contact with you while talking it may mean that they have developed flickering focus. The most basic of all is that while talking they must maintain healthy eye contact. A less is alright but if it is less than regular then it is a problem.
3). Not Sitting Still: Children look for fun all the time. But if it becomes more intense then it is the major symptom of less focus ability among children. And not playing a single game till its end also indicates the issue.
4). Difficulty Doing Tasks With Directions: If your child needs more assistance in directions then it means that he/she is not able to focus well. And if it is happening multiple times then it may be a matter of concern.
5). Taking More Time To Complete A Task: Your child taking longer time to complete a task may indicate that he/she is not able to think straight on a single topic. His/her mind is flickering all the time.
NOTE: Only if all these signs are showing way more intense than normal, then only consider it an issue. Otherwise, children’s nature is mischievous; we don’t have to be so harsh on them.
What Parents Can Do To Avoid These?
If your child is showing any of the above signs then you can consider performing all these below given methods. Remember if it’s worse then please consider consulting a Pediatrician or your family doctor. As of now let’s have a look at these.
1). Try To Play With Your Children: Spending time with your kids can help them grow to their fullest. Also, try to teach them to play till the end of every game. This way you will let them know the feeling of both winning and losing.
2). Teach Them Basic Tasks: You can teach your child to do some basic tasks that are easy to do but require a considerable amount of focus. You can do it more playfully and interactively.
3). Talk With Their School Teachers: You should regularly visit your children’s class teacher to know how well your child is doing in school. Tell them to look closely and inform you if your child is having difficulty paying attention. MBS International School teachers are highly cooperative and helpful in this matter.
3). Never Leave Your Child Alone: It’s not something like they should not do something alone but should be looked after each time. You can also pay attention to how well your child is focusing when he/she is playing outdoor games.
4). Encourage Your Kid To Ask Questions: Often when children get stuck in some work, they wander away instead of asking questions. This may look like they lack good focus. Encouraging them to ask questions can help a lot.
5). You Can Teach Your Kids To Make To-Do-Lists/ Time Tables: This is a very healthy exercise that your younger ones can develop. Both focus and organizational skills will be developed in your children.
Conclusion
Your child may or not have serious focus or attention issues, so be delicate with them. Children take time to develop good skills. Tell them their flaws in the most kind and loving manner. Just like you read this whole article for your kid, keep up this good parenting job forever. Finally of all, trust in our MBS International School motto and values.
